Mr. Johnson taught for the Byron School District from 1965-1999.  The photo hangs in the BHS music hallway as a reminder of Mr. Johnson’s many contributions to the field of music education and to Byron School District.  Throughout his tenure with Byron, Mr. Johnson taught Band, Choir, Jazz Band, and Jazz Choir.  He also served as a middle school cross country coach, ski club advisor, and junior class advisor.  Within the Byron community, David served as the music director of his local church, and upon retirement, he taught Music History part-time at Rock Valley College.  Mr. Johnson passed away in May of 2021.  Pictured above are members of the Johnson family helping to dedicate his portrait and plaque: wife, Kathy Johnson; daughter, Amy Johnson; son, Aaron Johnson; and granddaughters, Elise and Claire.
