2014 Inductees

The Byron School District is pleased to announce the Hall of Fame Class of 2014. A school board appointed committee received and reviewed many nominations from friends, family, & community members. After deliberation and voting, the committee produced a list of 12 inductees.

The Class of 2014 was introduced at halftime of our first home football game on Friday, September 5, 2014. In addition, an induction ceremony for members of the Hall of Fame was held on Saturday, September, 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Byron Forest Preserve Jarrett Center

The 2014 members include:
  • 1983 Volleyball Team
  • 1999 Wrestling Team
  • Bob Baker – Teacher and Coach at Bryon from 1988 to present. Varsity wrestling coaching record: 210-36-2; Assistant Coach 1988-1993; Head Coach 1994-2004; 2000 IHSA Class A 3rd Place; 1995 IHSA Class A State Champion; 1999 Class A State Runner-Up
  • Mark Cameron – Teacher and Coach 1978 - 2011; Varsity Head Coach 1997-2011; 2007 IHSA Class A State Champion
  • Matt Childers – 2000 BHS graduate; 2000 Valedictorian; 3-time Academic State Champion WYSE, ICTM, & IHSA; 4-time Academic State Runner-Up ICTM (2), WYSE, & IHSA
  • Ryan Considine – Football - 2002 & 2003 IFCA All State Team; 3-time BNC All Conference selection; Basketbal - 2004 IBCA All State Team; 3-time BNC All Conference selection; Baseball - 2004 IBCA All State Team; - 3-time BNC All Conference selection
  • Nate Demus – Football 2-time Big Northern All Conference; 2002 First team All Area; Wrestling 2003 IHSA Class A State Champion; 3-time State Qualifier; Centurian – 127 Varsity wins; Single season 40 win club; 4-time Big Northern All Conference
  • Marvin Dennis – 1955 BHS Graduate; 14 Total Varsity letters: Football-3, Basketball-4, Baseball-3, Track & Field-4; Basketball- 4 yr Varsity starter; BHS record holder: - Points scored career – 1,356 - Points scores season - 595
  • Petrece Faulkner Klein – 11 Total Varsity letters: Volleyball-4, Basketball-4, Softball-3; Volleyball -1987 All Conference selection -Member of 1987 Elite-8 team; Basketball 2-time IBCA All State selection; 3-time All Conference selection; Played basketball at Fort Hayes State; Member of NAIA National Championship Team - 199; 2-time member of FHSU Athletic Hall of Fame
  • Fran Hogan – 1949 BHS Graduate; Participated in: Softball – 3 yrs Basketball – 4 yrs Track & Field – 4 yrs Cross Country – 1 yr FFA – 2 yrs; Basketball - member of 1948 undefeated regular season team
  • Robert Jarrett– 1966 BHS Graduate; 12 Total Varsity letters: Basketball-3, Track & Field-4, Cross Country-4,Speech - 1; Basketball - All Conference selection Jr & Sr yrs; Senior Athlete of Year Award - 1966; Continued Track career at Univ. of Missouri -Ran Track & Field – 800m, 1600m, 1600m Relay; Graduate of Univ. of Iowa Medical School - Specialized in Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine; Team Doctor for Rockford Univ., Rock Valley College, and Northern Illnois Univ.
  • John Nolan - Teacher and Coach 1978-2007; Varsity Girls Basketball Coaching Record: 545 - 222 (.850 winning percentage); Ranks 17th in IHSA for Career Wins; F/S Coach – 1979 – 1980; Head Coach – 1980 – 2008; 1996 IHSA Class A 3rd Place
