Byron Math Teams Make Math Count

Congratulations to Byron Middle School's MathCounts team. They took first place at regional competition held at Sauk Valley Community College on Saturday, February 13.
This is the 19th consecutive year that Byron Middle School math students have received top honors and advanced to state competition.
Byron Middle School's team consisting of Chad Trenholm, Kaitlyn Buck, Jacob Heglund and John Gordon received trophies for taking first place overall, which qualifies them for state competition on March 6 in Matteson.
Top individuals for the day included Chad Trenholm who took first place over all of the students who were at the competition at Sauk Valley.

Kaitlyn Buck took third place and Rachel Hopkins took seventh place. In the oral math competition, three Byron students made it in the top eight, Chad Trenholm, Kaitlyn Buck and Rachel Hopkins. Kaitlyn Buck ended up in the championship round and took home a second place trophy. In the alternates division, Alex Hines took second place and Mike Gordon took fourth place. Altogether Byron brought home 12 trophies. Byron Middle School MathCounts teams are coached by Dr. Jacqueline DeVries.
