Strategic Focus Area #5
Strategic Action #1: Create new and or enhance existing communication to improve effectiveness. 1.1 Work with Technology DLT to upgrade and improve the district website and streamline the interface. 1.2 Add a "search" feature to the website. 1.3 Add a "Question Board" to the website and establish a protocol for answering the questions. 1.4 Simplify newsletter - more topics with less detail - link to website for more in-depth information and add "Getting to Know Our Staff" column. 1.5 Submit articles to the Tempo, Life, and WIFR Hometown website on a regular basis. 1.6 Aggressively address "hot topics" and items of apparent conflict to keep the community informed (i.e. COW meetings, building facilities, curriculum). 1.7 Establish a "fact library" for all District issues and decisions located on the website - reference "fact library" in all written and published information. 1.8 Add day-to-day documents (letters home from teachers, field trip permission slips, etc.) to the website located by building and grade.
Strategic Action #2: Create unity within the school district and community. 2.1 Develop a campaign to promote "kids first." 2.2 Uphold the democratic process prior to and during voting; support majority decision after vote. 2.3 Promote and publicize Strategic Plan and validate or re-evaluate on a regular basis. 2.4 Seek opportunities to engage the community in unique or special (fun) events (e.g. rebuilding the playground).
Strategic Action #3: Establish a means of dispersing positive, accurate, and objective information regarding the school district. 3.1 Hire a qualified public relations employee. 3.2 Create district forums to inform/educate the community on important educational changes/initiatives. 3.3 Update community with accurate information through Town Hall meetings and Community Coffees. 3.4 Establish a Community Relations Committee to oversee public relations until a PR employee is hired. 3.5 Celebrate successes and claim victories at student, parent, staff, and administrative levels.
