Byron Community School District #226

Byron Schools Search For Next Superintendent

district letter head

Dear District Staff and Community Members:

The Byron School District 226 Board of Education has begun the search process for a new superintendent who will begin duties on July 1, 2018. The Board of Education would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. James Hammack, who is retiring, for his efforts over the past six years.

The Board has selected SCHOOL EXEC CONNECT, an educational search firm, to assist us in the superintendent search.  The first step in this process is to create a New Superintendent Profile, using information gathered from focus groups and from an on-line survey.  The New Superintendent Profile will guide us in the selection process.

We hope to receive your input for this task.  We would appreciate if you would take about ten minutes to fill out the following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YP2VB9Y

In addition to the survey, if you would like to provide input on the District’s strengths, challenges, and the characteristics the next superintendent should possess, SCHOOL EXEC CONNECT consultants invite you to attend one of the scheduled Focus Groups, which will be held on Tuesday, November 7th, as follows:

  • 7:30 a.m.         BHS Staff                    BHS Library
  • 1:00 p.m.         Administration             Board of Education meeting room
  • 3:00 p.m.         BMS Staff                   BMS Library
  • 3:40 p.m.         MMES Staff                MMES Band Room
  • 6:30 p.m.         Parent/Community     Board of Education meeting room

Findings from the survey and the focus group conversations will be reported to the Board on November 30th, 2017.

As we move forward, our most important consideration is securing the strongest candidate pool and ultimately the best person to lead our District.  We plan that those involved in the search will hold candidate names confidential throughout the process.

A Stakeholder/Confidential Committee will be established to interview the final two or three candidates and share their feedback with the Board of Education.

The Board of Education looks forward to your support and assistance with this very important undertaking.  Please feel free to contact the consultants assisting us if you have any questions or comments regarding the search:  Dr. Jill Hawk  jhawk9790@gmail.com or Dr. Gary Zabilka gzabilka@iasaedu.org

We look forward to your input as we search for a new superintendent to lead Byron School District 226.

Sincerely,

The Byron CUSD 226 Board of Education
